Privacy policy

ToneFix is made by Zossoz, Inc. ("Zossoz," "we," "us"). ToneFix reads the things you are about to send to other people, so it is built on a simple rule: your text is processed on your device and we never see it.

The short version

• ToneFix has no account and no sign-up.
• We operate no servers and collect no personal data. ToneFix contains no networking code at all.
• Rewrites run entirely on your device, on Apple's on-device Foundation Models.
• Your history, presets and custom tones live on your device. With ToneFix Pro you can turn on sync through your own iCloud.
• The keyboard needs Full Access to read and replace your text. It logs nothing and transmits nothing.
• ToneFix has one optional one-time purchase, handled entirely by Apple.
• No ads, no analytics, no tracking, no data sales. Ever.

How the rewriting works

Every rewrite — tone, intensity, Refine, Learn My Voice, the fact-preservation check — runs on your device using Apple's on-device language model framework. Your draft is never sent to a server, including ours. There is no external AI API involved and no request leaves the app.

On devices without Apple Intelligence, ToneFix falls back to a built-in rule-based rewriter that also runs entirely on device.

What ToneFix stores, and where

ToneFix stores the following in a private container on your device:

• Rewrite history — the original text you submitted, the rewritten versions, tags and timestamps. History saving can be turned off or cleared at any time in Settings.
• Preferences — your default tone, channel context, appearance and other settings.
• Custom tones — any tone instructions you create, including a Learn My Voice profile built from writing samples you provide.
• Presets — any presets you configure.

iCloud sync

ToneFix Pro can sync your history, presets and custom tones across your devices. When you turn it on, that data is stored in your own private iCloud database under your Apple ID, governed by Apple's security and privacy terms. It is not shared with other users and it is not visible to Zossoz — we have no servers and no access to your iCloud. Sync is off unless you turn it on, and turning it off leaves the app working entirely locally.

The keyboard extension

The ToneFix keyboard is optional. When you use it, the extension reads the text in the active field so it can rewrite it, and writes the result back. That requires Full Keyboard Access, which only you can grant in iOS Settings.

The extension does not log keystrokes, does not store what you type outside the rewrite you asked for, and has no way to transmit anything: there is no networking code in ToneFix or in the keyboard.

The share extension

The share extension lets you send text into ToneFix from any other app. Shared text is held briefly in a private, on-device App Group container shared only between ToneFix and its own extensions, and is cleared automatically within five minutes, or immediately once it is imported.

If you share a screenshot or photo, ToneFix reads the text out of the image using Apple's on-device text recognition. The image itself is not stored and never leaves your device.

Search, Siri and Shortcuts

ToneFix indexes your rewrite history in Spotlight so you can find a past rewrite from your device's search screen, and offers Rewrite Text and Rewrite Clipboard actions to Siri and the Shortcuts app. Both read only the data already on your device, and neither sends anything to Zossoz or to Apple's servers.

Purchases

ToneFix is free, with one optional one-time purchase ("ToneFix Pro") that unlocks custom tones, Learn My Voice, unlimited presets and iCloud sync. The purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store — Zossoz never sees your payment details. You can restore a past purchase from Settings at any time.

Third-party services

None. There are no analytics or tracking SDKs, no crash reporting services, no advertising networks, and no external AI APIs. ToneFix ships with no third-party code.

What we don't do

• No analytics or tracking SDKs of any kind.
• No advertising, and no data sales — we have nothing to sell.
• No collection of names, emails, contacts, locations, or identifiers.

Children

ToneFix is not directed at children under 13 and, consistent with the rest of this policy, collects no personal information from anyone.

Deleting your data

Clear your history, or individual entries, from Settings at any time. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data. If you enabled iCloud sync, you can remove ToneFix's data in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud.

Changes to this policy

If ToneFix's behavior ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this policy and note the new effective date above before the change ships.
