Privacy policy

Tablescape is made by Zossoz, Inc. ("Zossoz," "we," "us"). Tablescape is designed so that we learn as little about you as possible — this policy is short because there is very little to disclose.

The short version

• Tablescape has no account and no sign-up.
• We operate no servers and collect no personal data.
• Your dinners are stored on your device and in your own private iCloud.
• We show no ads, use no analytics, and sell nothing about you to anyone.

What Tablescape stores, and where

Dinners you host — guests, RSVPs, bring lists, seating charts, menus, and notes — are stored in your private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit) under your own Apple ID, and locally on your device. This data is transmitted between your device and Apple's iCloud servers under Apple's own security and privacy terms; Zossoz cannot read it, and it never touches a Zossoz server, because we don't have any.

Journal entries, guest-book history, preferences, and prep lists are stored locally on your device only.

Sharing a dinner

When you invite guests to a dinner, Tablescape uses Apple's iCloud sharing. Only the people you explicitly invite can see that dinner's details (guest list, bring list, timing). You can stop sharing, or delete the dinner, at any time, which removes it for your guests as well.

Camera and photos

If you use the room scan or photo import to sketch your seating space, the camera image is processed entirely on your device to detect tables and furniture. Photos and scans are never uploaded anywhere and are not seen by Zossoz.

Calendar

If you tap "Add to Calendar" on a dinner, Tablescape asks for write-only calendar access — enough to add that one event. Tablescape never reads your existing calendar, and if you decline, "Add to Calendar" simply doesn't add the event; everything else in the app works the same either way.

On-device suggestions

Optional AI-assisted features — journal-recap and guest-message drafting, natural-language seating rules, a dietary summary of your guest list, and drafting a dish's ingredients or grouping your shopping list by aisle — run entirely on your device using Apple's on-device intelligence, when your device and iOS version support it. You always review and approve or edit the result before anything is saved; nothing you write, and none of your dinner data, is sent to Zossoz or to any third party by Tablescape. If your device doesn't support on-device intelligence, these features are simply unavailable and everything else in the app works normally.

Notifications

Tablescape asks permission to schedule local notifications for reminders (prep nudges, day-of alerts); if you decline, the app works normally without them. These are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. Silent push notifications from Apple's iCloud keep shared dinners in sync; these carry no personal content readable by us.

Widget and Live Activity

The optional home-screen widget and the dinner-day Live Activity read a small snapshot of your next dinner (title, date, RSVP counts, and unclaimed bring-list items) that Tablescape writes on-device into a private App Group container shared only between the app and the widget. This never leaves your device, involves no push notifications or network request, and appears only if you add the widget or start a Live Activity yourself.

Siri, Shortcuts, and Search

Tablescape supports Siri and Shortcuts questions about your dinners (like "who's bringing dessert?") and indexes your dinners in on-device Spotlight search, so you can find one from the system search screen. Both read only the dinner data already on your device or in your private iCloud — nothing is sent to Zossoz, and these are read-only except for a "Turn on Table Mode" shortcut, which only changes a setting inside the app.

Purchases

Hosting your first dinner is free. Hosting more than one requires a one-time "Host Unlock" purchase, handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit — Zossoz never sees your payment details, and this purchase is unrelated to anything a guest does, since guests never pay for anything. If you've purchased Host Unlock before (including on another device), use "Restore Purchases" in Settings to restore it at no extra charge. Host Unlock also supports Family Sharing, so members of your Apple Family group can share the purchase.

What we don't do

• No analytics or tracking SDKs of any kind.
• No advertising, and no data sales — we have nothing to sell.
• No collection of names, emails, contacts, locations, or identifiers.

Children

Tablescape is not directed at children under 13 and, consistent with the rest of this policy, collects no personal information from anyone.

Deleting your data

Delete a dinner in the app to remove it from your iCloud and from your guests' devices. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data. You can also manage iCloud data for Tablescape in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud.

Changes to this policy

If Tablescape's behavior ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this policy and note the new effective date above before the change ships.
