Keeper

Privacy policy

Effective September 12, 2026

Keeper is made by Zossoz, Inc. (“Zossoz,” “we,” “us”). Keeper exists to hold your family’s most personal objects and their stories, so it is built on a simple rule: your collection is yours, and we never see it.

The short version

  • Keeper has no account and no sign-up.
  • We operate no servers and collect no personal data.
  • Photos, stories, and voice notes live only on your device.
  • On-device intelligence, voice-note transcription, and Siri/Shortcuts all run entirely on your device.
  • The Home Screen widget and Spotlight search read a small on-device snapshot — nothing leaves your phone.
  • Keeper Complete, the one-time unlock, is a purchase handled entirely by Apple.
  • No ads, no analytics, no tracking, no data sales. Ever.

What Keeper stores, and where

Your objects — photos, stories, voice notes, provenance details, and settings — are stored locally on your device, in the app’s own storage. Nothing is ever sent to Zossoz — we have no servers to send it to.

Camera

Keeper asks for camera access to photograph an heirloom. Photos are saved only to the object you’re creating or editing.

Microphone

Keeper asks for microphone access to record voice notes about an object — its story, in your own words. Audio is captured only while you are actively recording.

Photo library

You can import an existing photo of an object from your library instead of using the camera. Keeper only reads the photo you choose.

On-device intelligence

Optional features — polishing a story, suggesting follow-up questions — run entirely on your device using Apple’s on-device models. Nothing about your collection is ever transmitted to Zossoz or any third party.

Voice-note transcription

Keeper asks for speech-recognition access so it can turn a recorded voice note into text you can review. This runs on your device (on-device recognition is required in Keeper’s code, so your voice is never sent to Apple’s or anyone else’s servers for this). A transcript is only ever shown to you for review — it’s never inserted into an object’s story automatically. If you decline speech-recognition access, you can still record and play back voice notes; you just won’t see a transcript.

Home Screen widget

Keeper’s widget shows one “object of the day.” The app writes a small snapshot (a thumbnail and a bit of text) to a private, on-device App Group container that only Keeper and its widget can read — no network connection is involved. Until you add your first object, the widget simply shows an empty state.

Siri, Shortcuts, and Spotlight

Keeper supports a few Siri/Shortcuts actions (adding an object, reading its story aloud) and indexes your objects in system Spotlight search so you can find them from outside the app. Both run entirely on your device, using the same local data Keeper already stores — nothing is sent anywhere to make search or Shortcuts work.

Backups you share

You can export your collection as a .keeper file (photos, voice notes, and stories included) to back it up or send it to someone else. That file is created and shared entirely through your device’s own share sheet or Files app — Zossoz never sees it, and it only reaches whatever destination you choose (AirDrop, Mail, a cloud drive you control, and so on).

Purchases

Keeper is free, with a single optional one-time purchase, “Keeper Complete,” that unlocks a few extra features. The purchase itself is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store — Zossoz never sees your payment details. You can restore a past purchase at any time from Settings, and Keeper Complete supports Family Sharing, so it can be shared with your family without buying it again.

What we don’t do

  • No analytics or tracking SDKs of any kind.
  • No advertising, and no data sales — we have nothing to sell.
  • No collection of names, emails, contacts, or identifiers.

Children

Keeper is not directed at children under 13 and, consistent with the rest of this policy, collects no personal information from anyone.

Deleting your data

Delete individual items in the app at any time. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data.

Changes to this policy

If Keeper’s behavior ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this policy and note the new effective date above before the change ships.
